Schwarber Time!

Image result for kyle schwarber

Let's take a look at MLB service time (including 2015 and as of today) for last night's Cubbies lineup.

  1. Dexter Fowler: 7th season (13 games in 2008 with COL)
  2. Kyle Schwarber: 7 games, all in 2015
  3. Kris Bryant: 79 games, all in 2015
  4. Anthony Rizzo: 5th season (49 games with SD in '11, 87 with CHC in'12)
  5. Jorge Soler: 58 games in 2015, 24 games in 2014
  6. Chris Coghlan: 7th season (91 games or less 2010-2013)
  7. Starlin DeJesus Castro: 6th season
  8. Addison Russell: 72 games
Pretty impressive to roll out a line-up that features zero players with double digit MLB experience. Granted, it shows by the lack of patience at the plate and some of the boner plays made on defense, but imagine this team a year or two down the road. Sure, Coghlan and Fowler could be gone by then and maybe even Castro, but the ceiling is so high. Sooooo high.

2015 HandyJ Superstars Results

Catcher - Buster Posey (9)
Corner Infield - Paul Goldschmidt (13), Anthony Rizzo (11)
Middle Infield - Jung Ho Kang (15), Dee Gordon (11)
Outfield - Bryce Harper (18), Ichiro (16), Nori Aoki (11)
Starting P - Max Scherzer (17), Gerrit Cole (15), Johnny Cueto (12), Jake Arrieta (10), Shelby Miller (8)
Set-Up - Kevin Siegrist (7)
Closer - Trevor Rosenthal (9)
Long Relief - Carlos Villanueva - (6)

Reserves - Kolton Wong (10), Todd Frazier (10), AJ Pollack (10), Jacob deGrom (7), Micheal Wacha (7)

There are some surprises here. Villanueva wrestled away that long relief role by a vote over Roark and Petit. Cardinal fans really showed support for their bullpen. Ichiro and Aoki held on to their OF spots... Posey past Derek Norris in the final week and Gordon past Wong.
